David Crews has been working as a television production director, editor, and digital artist for over 35 years, starting in broadcast stations in West Texas, then moving to commercial production houses and cable television production studios in Austin, Texas. A master editor, David has worked in many roles, from Production Manager to Senior Producer/Director. He has won many video awards, including six Telly's, a Gold Addy, a Communicator Award, and a Moondance Film Festival award, and he serves on the Silver Telly Council as a judge for the international Telly Awards. |

________________________________________________ I LOVE Video Production!! I have been involved in Television Production since January of 1973, when I started my career at KOSA-TV in Odessa, Texas. When I began, videotape was still in the dinosaur age - hulking huge reel-to-reel machines that ran 2-inch wide tape. Commercials with products were done LIVE in our studios during newscasts! Weather graphics were created with plastic letters on a grooved menu board! How incredible the changes in technology have been! In 1983, after a short time working for production houses in the DFW and Austin areas, I settled in Austin and worked for Time Warner Cable - first as Production Manager, then as the Senior Producer-Director (my preferred role). After more than two decades there, I opened my own post-production and music studio, CrewsCreative, in 2007. This gives me the opportunity to work with my clients in a professional, but comfortable environment that promotes creativity. Plus, I have the freedom to work on projects I find challenging and rewarding for myself and my clients. I have deep experience with the creative 30 second television commercial spot and I've always enjoyed how one must write, edit, and design for that short window. The ":30" is a sort of video haiku poem that requires true art to do well, especially on a limited budget. Whether you need a broadcast commercial, a corporate or web video, or even animation elements or logos – I have the experience to give you the finished product you have imagined and more. I'd love to work with you! ~~~~~ Some other things about Who I Am: I've been honored to win several international awards for my long-form music compositions/performances (see my music page for details and samples). As a recording artist, I've released two albums: "Cave of the Jaguar" and "Songs of Day, Songs of Night". In recent years, I've studied and worked with modern and native shamanism. I travelled to the Peruvian Amazon to work with indigenous tribal shamans and experience their powerful plant medicines and ceremonies. This has been a life-changing experience, leading to the creation of my studio, CrewsCreative.
I also wrote a book on New Testament interpretation and I've authored various websites on religious, philosophical, and spiritual topics. |
